چکیده
ABSTRACT Microhabitat factors associated with the habitat of barking deer (Muntiacus vaginalis) were examined and compared between summer winter seasons. Habitat characteristics preferred measured by locating direct indirect signs. To quantify utilization deer, each selected study site was sampled for floral diversity from 2015 to 2017. Quadrats deployed along transect lines determine seasonal distribution. Barking not evenly distributed across vegetation types in area; they occurred more often broad-leaved forest than Chir pine forest, at an elevational range 550-850 m, thick on steep slopes. The most included trees shrubs 30% 69% cover, respectively. avoided thicker tree possibly as it hinders movement escape predators. No significant difference (χ2 = 6.37, df 3, p 0.19) cover recorded.

متن کاملSpatial Niche Partitioning in Sub-Tropical Solitary Ungulates: Four-Horned Antelope and Barking Deer in Nepal
Differential resource use allows a diversity of species to co-exist in a particular area by specializing in individual ecological niches. Four-horned antelope Tetracerus quadricornis is endemic to the Indian subcontinent and has a restricted distribution in Nepal and India; however, the barking deer Muntiacus vaginalis is relatively common throughout its wide distribution range. We wanted a bet...
متن کاملSeasonal habitat use by Elephants (Loxodonta africana) in the Mole National Park of Ghana
To avoid unnecessary waste of limited resources and to help prioritize areas for conservation efforts, this study aimed to provide information on habitat use by elephants between the wet and dry seasons in the Mole National Park (MNP) of Ghana. We compiled coordinates of 516 locations of elephants' encounters, 256 for dry season and 260 for wet season. Using nine predictor variables, we modeled...
متن کاملMorphological study of the lingual papillae in the barking deer, Muntiacus muntjak.
The morphology of the tongue of the adult barking deer, Muntiacus muntjak, was examined by light and scanning electron microscopy. The result showed that the tongue of the barking deer was elongated with a rounded apex. Four types of lingual papillae were observed: filiform, fungiform, vallate and large conical papillae. The filiform papillae represented the most numerous types of lingual papil...

Musk deer are highly important as a medicinal species that are severely exploited throughout their range of occurrence due to the medicinal value of the musk produced only by the male individuals. Methods used for studying the populations and distributions of other ungulates do not work well with musk deer and the presence of a unified methodology for studying musk deer appear to be lacking wor...
